An innovative funding model that allows Cornerstone to create a self-sustaining community, which provides subsidized and accessible services.

The Social Enterprise pillar of Cornerstone is our grassroots funding approach. It allows us to sustain our charity while ensuring there are minimal costs and barriers to accessing our programs. Utilizing this approach, we have a variety of fundraising programs and events with all the revenue going directly to run our programming, and create more opportunities for our community. This means when someone asks for help, they receive it as quickly as possible. Cornerstone firmly believes that addiction recovery programs should be easily accessible and available as soon as someone asks for help – the Social Enterprise pillar is the vehicle that makes this happen.

Textile Recycling Program

Cornerstone partners with Talize Thrift Stores and Recycling Rewards to enable communities across Ontario to donate clothes and small household items to a good cause. This green initiative not only creates employment opportunities, it also diverts millions of pounds of product from the landfill each year. Lastly, our program also provides integral funding to Cornerstone and develops strong relationships with local businesses.

Fundraising

Our main initiatives include community gatherings, partnerships with corporate sponsors, regular donations and two major fundraising events each year: the Yoga-Thon and the Community Stroll. As a registered charity, Cornerstone is accountable to our donors and is able to provide tax receipts for all donations above $20. At a small, grassroots organization like Cornerstone, each dollar donated goes further. Fundraising provides an opportunity for us to connect with likeminded community members and organizations to offset our program costs while increasing the public’s awareness of the impact of addiction, and what we do to help those affected.

Agriculture

Cornerstone’s agricultural program runs out of our men’s residential home and provides a wide variety of holistic benefits for our guests. Our agricultural programs include the raising of livestock, harvesting hay, landscaping and more. It funds our programs and provides volunteer opportunities for the community. Moreover, it reflects Cornerstones values of being self-sustaining while teaching new skills. Interested in supporting this environmentally friendly program? Sign up below!
